ARTISSIMA 2025: Light and shadow
Light and Shadow: A Trialogue between Magdalena Jetelová, Jürgen Staack, and Jorinde Voigt
“Light and shadow are inseparable” – a conceptual unity that forms the core of our booth presentation, featuring works by Magdalena Jetelová, Jürgen Staack, and Jorinde Voigt. Despite their differing approaches, the artists share a profound interest in how perception is transformed through light, language, and space.
Magdalena Jetelová, internationally renowned for her monumental light projections in public spaces, uses light as an ephemeral sign of political, geographical, and societal boundaries. Her works reflect on structures of power and collective memory, forming powerful visual statements.
Jürgen Staack, by contrast, works conceptually with language, photography, and sound. In his light-based installations, he explores processes of translation, shifts in perception, and the transience of information.
In her new sculpture, Jorinde Voigt creates an oscillating space in which the themes of shadow, reflection, vitality, sincerity, and stillness merge into a philosophical matrix.
