The exhibition explores the shadow as a central and multifaceted motif in contemporary art, tracing its historical transformation from ancient myth and philosophical allegory to a complex, media-reflexive image in photography, film, and installation. Through around 40 international artistic positions, it reveals how the shadow embodies presence and absence, materiality and dissolution, and serves as both a metaphor for the self and a lens on hidden political and existential realities.
