Juergen Staack presents portrait photographs in the exhibition “Pippis Papa”, taken as part of his ongoing project “Unserdeutsch.” Staack explores the transience of images and languages, with a particular interest in those spoken by only a few remaining individuals. In 2023, he traveled to Papua New Guinea to learn about the Unserdeutsch language and its last speakers. A part of Papua New Guinea was once a German colony, where the Catholic Church established a boarding school that enforced the use of Standard German.
